Day 8 of the revolt in Greece - 13 Dec 2008

Last Saturday exactly a week ago the young Alexis Grigoropoulos was assassinated by the Police and a popular revolt led by the youth has erupted and continues unstoppably throughout the country.
Today, December 13, a sit in took place in the Syntagma Square by thousands of young students and schoolchildren, including those from the school of Alexis.
Tomorrow Sunday, a General Assembly of all Action Centers and Occupied Faculties will take place in the Polytechnic University of Athens to discuss the situation and future action.
Already its has been decided to hold a new mass demonstration next Monday as well as on Thursday, December 18 when the new budget will be put into vote in Parliament and mass strike action is decided in the public sector.
The solidarity actions worlds wide are received here with enthusiasm by the people and with fear by the government. Even the mass media have to report some of them: the TV Channels broadcasted the demonstrations in Paris, Rome and Berlin, and the center right daily Kathimerini had in its front page a big picture with the march of the students of FUBA and some flags of the Partido Obrero in front of the Greek Embassy in Buenos Aires. Russian comrades from left wing organizations, including the social movement Alternativyi were picketing the Greek Embassy in Moscow and ten of them were arrested. Actually, solidarity actions are spreading in all countries and all continents, from Helsinki, Copenhagen and Moscow to Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Buenos Aires and Tokyo.
The Greek revolt is only the first act of a global rebellion driven by the global capitalist crisis.
